MK xyz was born Makaila Garcia on May 15, 1998 (age: 25 years, as of 2023) in Jacksonville, Florida. She is of mixed race (her mom is black, and her father is Filipino) and grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina with her parents who were both dancers. Her mother name is Abel Desuyo Garcia. Her dad was a break-dancer and her mom did point ballet. She attended the Northwest School of Arts in Charlotte where she focused on musical theater and dance.
She started singing when she was 15 years old and released her first EP Expectations in 2017. The title track was a catchy R&B song that expressed her frustration with others’ expectations of her. She also came out as bisexual on social media at the same time.
